Fight for a coolest GPU on Earth with ASUS GeForce 8800 GTX AquaTank
Posted on Wednesday, July 04 @ 23:55:02 CEST by matuus

Hardware High-performance graphic cards from NVIDIA family are known not only for their unbeatable performance, but also for their big production of heat. In case of good air flow in Computer Case problem with heat goes away, but what we can do if we have some taste for a solid overclocking?

NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX

NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX cards have different (massive) board design, which makes numbers of 3rd party coolers unusable. ASUS comes with untraditional solution – A water cooled version of NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX based on Tide Water cooler from top-class manufacturer – Thermaltake, which brings extreme cooling efficiency and unbeatable preformance.

What about cooling?

This cooling solution is based on special GPU water block and heat invertor. Between this two components circulate special liquid, which brings warm liquid from GPU to heat invertor.  This water block cover not only GPU, but also memory and all other chips. Liquid is in this circuit not for all times, you must fill special liquid into heat invertor one time about two years.

What about performance?

Coolest GeForce 8800 GTX on Earth call for higher GPU and memory frequencies. ASUS knows it and you can celebrate 630 MHz core (default is 575 MHz) and 2060 MHz memory (default is 1800 MHz). Final performance is very close to GeForce 8800 Ultra, in many games is different between this two predators only 2%. We can try overclock this card, but final result was only 6% boost up, which is no reason for overclocking (card is fast as can) and possible decrease of stability.

Final verdict

ASUS makes very, very good job and brings to a market powerfull solution. Is based on NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX, but thanks to a higher clock frequencies is in performance very close to GeForce 8800 Ultra.
